COVID-19 travel information

By October 14, 2021COVID-19, Featured

The FAA and the U.S. airlines follow the CDC guidelines below. You can learn more at CDC.gov.

Amendment to face mask order

  • CDC is announcing it is amending its Face Masks Order to not require people to wear a mask in outdoor areas of conveyances or while outdoors at transportation hubs.
  • Until it can amend the Order, the CDC will exercise its enforcement discretion to not require wearing a mask in outdoor areas of transportation conveyances (if such outdoor areas exist) or while outdoors at transportation hubs.
  • CDC continues to recommend wearing masks in these areas by people who are not fully vaccinated.

When not to travel

People who are sick with symptoms of COVID-19, have recently tested positive for the virus, or have been exposed to a person with COVID-19 pose a very high risk to others during travel.

Safer travel tips

  • Wear a mask over your nose and mouth in public. Wearing a mask over your nose and mouth is required on planes, buses, trains, and other forms of public transportation traveling into, within, or out of the United States and while indoors at U.S. transportation hubs such as airports and stations. Travelers are not required to wear a mask in outdoor conveyance areas (like on open deck areas of a ferry or the uncovered top deck of a bus).
  • Avoid crowds and stay at least six feet/two meters (about two arm lengths) from anyone not traveling with you.
  • Wash hands often- or apply hand sanitizer (with at least 60%) alcohol.
