Love some winter fun in the sun

By February 10, 2021COVID-19

Following guidance from the CDC as well as local health authorities, Sun Valley is doing its best to help keep guests safe and that means limiting the number of daily ski lift tickets. See more at https://www.sunvalley.com/health-and-safety

Earlier this season, obtaining day passes to ski at any of Sun Valley’s mountains was a bit challenging. Those eager soon-to-be skiers logged on to purchase a lift ticket only to find out they were out of luck. With the holidays behind us and only Presidents’ Day weekend (February 13-15) and Spring Breakers arriving throughout March, your chances of purchasing a lift ticket should be fairly good.

Sun Valley recommends the earlier the better when purchasing a ticket—not only for securing a pass but to also receive a discount.

Please remember that while children ages four and under ski free, a ticket is still required.

Call the Lift Ticket Office at 208-622-6136 or visit https://www.sunvalley.com/mountain-passes

If it doesn’t work out to ski or snowboard, here are some other activities to consider:

  • Snowshoeing- Check BCRD site for locations
  • Ice skating at Sun Valley
  • Cross country or skate skiing- Check BCRD site for locations
  • Sleigh rides available through the Sun Valley resort
  • Go sledding at Penny Hill, located on the corner of Sun Valley and Saddle Road

Another fun option is to check out Rota run, a community hill just west of Hailey on Croy Creek Road. Not only do they offer public skiing on select days, but they also have night skiing Thursday and Friday nights. With the newly added addition of snow-making equipment, this little hill is a hidden gem! Check their website’s calendar to verify public ski days and times as they are subject to change. www.rotarun.org
