The Airport Director manages and supervises airport personnel, maintains a safe, legal, efficient, profitable operation for the Friedman Memorial Airport. He implements and enforces FAA, FMAA, and applicable City of Hailey and Blaine County policies, ordinances and regulations. He also determines policies, procedures, rules, and regulations for the Airport and its departments. The Airport Manager provides primary staff support to the Friedman Memorial Airport Authority.

The Deputy Director, Operations & Maintenance assures compliance with FAA airport certification mandates which govern airports served by commercial air carriers. The FAA conducts an annual inspection to ensure compliance with federal certification requirements. Operations is also responsible for emergency planning and response, including Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) services and other safety requirements. Operations also regularly maintain all airport facilities and operations equipment and seeks to minimize any adverse impact of aircraft noise on the surrounding community through pilot education and other noise abatement programs.

The Deputy Director, Finance & Administration manages the Airport’s commercial and industrial properties and aviation uses and activities. Her goal is to ensure the Airport’s economic self-sufficiency. She monitors Airport property leases for compliance, supervises the Accounting and Financial Management functions, and manages grants and contracts for the Airport.

The Security Manager serves as the airport operator’s 24-hour primary and immediate contact for security-related activities and communications with the TSA, FAA, and airport tenants. The Airport Security department also handles the general oversight of airport security functions, including managerial elements, as required to maintain airport security under TSA 4 9 CFR Part 1542. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Preparation and management of the Airport Security Plan (ASP), daily oversight of security provisions at FMA (SUN), compliance with the security program, maintain and establish professional relationships with Air Carriers, TSA, and local Law Enforcement; the Airport Security Department must retain an extensive level of technical knowledge related to airport security.
