Airlines continue to adapt and improve passenger tools

By March 8, 2021Airline Updates

United Launches Travel Ready Center

In a move that some travel experts are saying could be the new normal of travel, United Airlines is now the first U.S. airline to offer a digital platform through their mobile app and website where passengers can:

  • Book a ticket
  • Review COVID-19 entry requirements
  • Find local testing options
  • Store vaccination records
  • Schedule a test at the terminal
  • Upload any required testing and vaccination records for domestic and international travel
  • View a country’s visa requirements and upload the results on the company’s app
  • Passengers will also have the option to video chat live with a customer service agent to answer any questions about pre-travel requirements or documentation

This will help eliminate much of the guess-work current travelers are experiencing as they navigate through government websites looking for relevant up-to-date Covid-19 information.

In addition to rapid tests, the Travel Ready Center also offers PCR or antigen tests. So far the Centers are available in Newark, San Francisco, and Los Angeles airports, with plans to expand. And while a negative rapid test result does not guarantee safety, the hope is that it will provide another layer that helps reduce risk.

Delta’s New Testing Options

Delta plans to add features to its growing suite of digital tools.

Coming soon:

  • Customers in the U.S. will be able to purchase at-home COVID-19 tests. A test can be taken before departure, and passengers can pack another to be taken before their trip back to the U.S.
  • Passengers can also find a nearby testing location for an in-person test before travel and links to the directory of testing centers within the countries that member airlines serve.
  • Directly upload and verify documents at check-in through a new functionality available through pre-flight emails and at Delta.com – especially important for customers whose destination requires a negative COVID-19 test.
